printing

I have Office 97 and need to print 400 tickets with incremental numbers on
each ticket. Each ticket would be about the size of a name tag - printed
portrait orientation-, so 8 or 10 on a page, each with it's own number. Is
there any way in Word - or Office in general to do this?

Thanks in advance

The easiest way to do this is with a mail merge. Create your list of
numbers in Excel (because with the AutoFill feature, you don't have to
type 400 numbers) and use that as the datasource. For the main
document, you can use one of the built-in name tag "label" layouts, or
create your own using a table.

If you want the ticket numbers to look like 00001, 00002, etc. instead
of just 1, 2, ..., 400, format them like that in Excel: select the
cells, go to Format - Cells, go to the Number tab, select Custom from
the list at the left, and type 00000 into the box at the right. The
formatting will be retained in Word.
