Prints 1 copy of page when set for more

Orrie

Hi,

[Publisher 2003]

When I want to multiple copies of a single PUB page, my printer prints only
one copy. I have to give the print command separately for each copy (very
tedious!)

My printer (Brother HL-1440 laser printer) prints multiple copies of pages
in other programs with no problem. All the settings are correct, and I have
never had this problem before - and even now, only with Publisher.

I've tried switching my printer's "Collate" option on and off, but that made
no difference. I realize this may be a printer/driver problem or a Publisher
problem, but I thought I'd start here, since members of your group have been
great in helping me over other hurdles.

Any suggestions for how I can print multiple copies of a single page?

Thank you.
Orrie

I don't know if the following will help, it was posted by a user:
Posted by Mark Clifton.
Same BROTHER problem. I can print to other printers but not Brother. I
contacted Brother and they were no help and blamed it all on Microsoft. I
TRICKED IT into working.

Hope this works for someone else: I went to (printers) and selected a new
default printer. I used an old one (Panasonic kxp-1624)(any printer driver will
work, the printer doesn't need to be installed). Then I hit print preview and it
finally showed a preview. Then I minimized that screen and went back to printer
and defaulted back to Brother, then brought back up the minimized preview screen
from publisher and hit PRINT. It worked, and now it seems to recognize Brother
without going thru it each time. My Brother was an mfc-240c.

The above solution was for a specific problem. If it is of no help I'd go to the
Brother web site and look around for an updated driver.

Thanks for digging this up, Mary.

Unfortunately, Brother has not issued an updated driver for my printer since
2002.

After I read Mark Clifton's message, I realized that the problem of not
printing multiple copies may be associated with my creating a PDF by
selecting Acrobat PDFwriter as the "printer." For some reason, using the
Acrobat PDFwriter resets the printer's default settings, which seems to
create the problem when I switched back to the Brother printer.

I found a pretty simple work-around: On the print dialog box, instead of
clicking on print Current Page, I selected "Pages" (that is a range of
pages), and set the range "from: X to: X" using the same page number for
each end of the range. Then I set the number of copies I wanted of that
page. I worked.

I'll try reinstalling the driver, even though it seems to be the same as the
one I have. Maybe it got corrupted somehow over the years.

Yeah this is happening to me to with a brother printer.

for a temporary fix, you can select in the print menu:

print pages: and put 1,1,1,1, ( for how many copies you want, the printer
thinks it's printing different pages)

Otherwise there is a website I discovered once that has drivers for Video
cards , printers..etc where the original drivers have been tweaked to run
better with vista. It's Freeware i think.

Good luck
