Prints two first pages, the first partial and light

I am running Office 2003 on Windows XP-Pro using a Toshiba Satellite
A105-S4002. My printer is a Brother MFC-640CW. On multipage print job, such
as a document or series of one-page documents, it will print two first-pages,
the first only filling the top third of the page. Word is the program I most
use. Brother confirmed by telephone that it is a Microsoft problem.

Brother will say that won't they. They must be catching HP-itis

What do you see in Print Preview? If Print Preview is OK, then it is a
printer problem.

Thank you, but this is difficult to test. I just printed some four and five
page documents and did not get the extra page. It does not happen all the
time. There will be further tests, as I doubt the problem went away. I
would appreciate hearing from someone who uses Brother. You can bet that I
will not replace it with another Brother unit. Their drivers do not always
recoginze Microsoft Office Programs. Occasionally, I have had to designate
another default printer, and then change it back.

You love this one! Even Corel has issues with Brother, as they cite
compatibility problems with my Brother driver, which is the latest one
Brother can provide. With Corel, Word Perfect hangs while launching, when it
does launch, it doesn't open the documents it created. They cite a
compatibility problem with Brother. I am going out to get an Epson.

The purchase of an Epson 300NX solved the Corel problem. The Word problem
is minor enough not to test for, but I am sure the new unit fixed that
problem too. Brother equipment is OK as long as it does not connect to your
computer.
