Prioritising Recources

I have a group of four recources all doing the same group of tasks, however
within that group there are prefferred recources for certain tasks. I am
trying to get Project to automatically assign the available recources using
the substitution wizard.

In other word - use resouce 1 for task type A, however if Recource 1 is
overallocated, then use recource 2 etc.

I have tried this using Enterprise recouces and Enerprise recource codes,
however this seems to be more of a grouping function and not a prefference
function.

You can't automate this without resorting to VBA.
