Privacy blocking on pictures in Email

When I receive HTML emails containing pictures and banners, I receive
a privacy notice indicating that Entourage has not downloaded pictures
to protect my privacy. By clicking "Download Pictures" (appears next
to the privacy message), I can then view the pics. Does this have to
be performed every time I receive an email containing pics?

If you are familiar with the sender of these HTML messages with pictures
then you can add his email address to your Entourage addresses and the
pictures will come through for you.

The assumption here is that messages containing links back to the
Internet can contain images that violate your privacy by indicating that
not only you received the message but that you also opened the message.
It's a great trick for spammers to guarantee that they're sending to a
valid email address.

Hope this helps! bill

Only if that preference is set in the security pane of the prefs.

Thanks for the response. To ensure my understanding of this, is
adding the sender of an HTML message to the address book or a mailing
list the only way to automatically download pics in an email (assuming
that the preference is set in the security pane)? Are there any other
alternatives to override this privacy setting if I want to download
pics in an email, regardless of the sender?

No, only messages that come from people listed in your Address Book or
messages that are recognized by the Mailing List Manager will automatically
download the messages. There is no way that I am aware of to force all
images to download regardless of sender, and I wouldn't want to if there
were.
