PRJ98: Not Enough Memory Error when saving Project.

C

Carlo

MS Project 98 update was reinstalled after computer
failure. Now subject memory error appears. Deletion of
Registry key did not solve problem, therefore MS Project
98 must be reinstalled. Since disc is an update,
predecessor MS Project (version unknown) must also be
reinstalled. While I still have this, I am concerned that
it may be incompatible with my Windows 2000 and that I
might make matters worse. Any advice?

Hello Rob,

thank you very much for your response.

I have checked out the reference you gave me. The one
remaining possibility I would have had in this is Service
Release SR1 cd which is no longer available as of Jan. 1,
2004. Since Project 98 has always worked well on my
computer, I would have no problem reinstalling and working
with it.

Problem is, that I have an Update Version of Project 98
which requires a previous version of Project to be
installed. I also have found among my old disks a
previous version of Project, but it doesn't say what
version. On the first disk I have pencilled in a #4. I
don't remember if there was a version "#4," if this is a
compatible predecessor of Project 98, and if I can even
install this under Windows 2000.

Would I have to uninstall Windows 98 first?

My secretary's boy friend did all of this before. Now
they are both gone and I'm left to my own devices. I'm a
computer user, no technician.

Appreciate the help.

Thanks and best wishes,

Carlo

Carlo,

It doesn't matter if you use Windows 98, Windows 2000, or Windows XP.
Use whatever you have or whatever works on your computer. (Windows XP
may not work on the older machines ... check before upgrading.)

Re installation of Project ... well, if you don't have the right disks
to do a reinstall it will be impossible to re-install. I can't think of
a way around it. Your options are to find the right disks, or buy a new
copy of Project. You could get Project 98 used from various sources
(eBay?) or buy a newer version.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Hi Rob,

Thanks very much for your help. It worked fine. The
Project version 4 disks were the originals and I was able
to re-install them using Windows 2000 and the Project 98
update and save all my files.

I was really quite desperate.

Best wishes,

Carlo
