Riiight, so I'm pretty new to MS Projects and running Projects Professional
at work...

I was just wondering: If i open up a plan and some of my finish dates for
the respective tasks (work packages?) have changed; how do i capture the new
dates without losing the old ones?

i.e. I want to (at a later stage) have the capability of seeing what the
date was as appose to what it was changed to?

Have tried to look on this forumn but i dotn exactly knwo what to search
for...

Thanks...

Tools/Tracking/Save Baseline...
You can then compare your baseline dates to current dates. The easiest way
to do that is from the Tracking View. View/Tracking Gantt

There is a whole world in MS Project that can help you track your schedule
and cost performance compared to your baseline. Search on the term "Earned
Value" in the Help and on a search engine such as Google or Yahoo.

Here is a good book on the subject:

Hi

If you just want to capture the old dates and not the whole database of
previous status, go to Tools > Tracking > Set baseline > save interim plan
(save start and finish dates as Start1/Finish1).

Afterwards to view both tha dates you could insert Start1 and Finish1 cols
and also you could create bars from Start1 - Finish1 to graphically compare
with current status.

This way you could save status of previous 10 updates alogwith the latest
status.

I hope it helps
