Problam opening files

I am running office xp pro on windows 2000 and i am having
a prob. Whenever i double click on an office product file
it will not open and the error message i get is "Cannot
find the file 'C:\ ......... Make sure the path a filename
are correct and that all available libraries are
available" and then i cannot open the file. But if open
Excel first (for example) and then open the file it works
fine.

Any clue??
