Problem accessing word documents

Hello,

There is a user who is having problems accessing word documents in a
folder on a shared drive. This folder, located on say, O:/ drive,
is accessable by navigating through my computer. Once in the folder,
when you double click on the word file, opens up and everything is
fine.

However, when you enter word through the icon on the desktop, and try
and open the file through word, File-->Open
the computer freezes up.
Actually, with any program, whenever he tries to access a file in that
folder, the computer freezes up. The only way he can get into the
folder and access ANY file in the faolder is by going through MY
Computer/O Drive/Folder

Also, when you try and attach the file to an email, it freezes the
computer up.

Any thoughts?
Thanks,
George

Does Word freeze up as soon as you use File, Open and then attempt to
navigate to other folders? This would be an indication of some illegal path
is set up such as a dead drive mapping or URL. Check in Windows Explorer to
ensure that all paths are valid.
