Problem after installing Act 6.0

Hello,
I have MS Office/Outlook 2003 and use the latter for my email client. After
installing and setting up what I thought was a legit copy of Act 6.0 Contact
software which I had purchased on Ebay-but found out was pirated-I
immediately started having problems receiving email. It simply won't download
email but I can send. It gives a error message for all email accounts. It
gives an error that "The operation timed out waiting for a response from the
receiving (POP) server".
I need to get email for my business, and since this is not a legit copy (am
working on obtaining) I can't use the Act tech support.
Any ideas what's wrong or how to fix?
