Problem checking for updates and installing SP3

I am having trouble installing SP3 on my desktop. It is looking for an installer file. When I installed Office XP Pro originally, it came with SP1. I updated with SP2 when it came out. When SP3 was available, the check for update worked and the installation started out fine. When it came to the point where it asked for the installation CDs, I put them in. The computer did not recognize the CDs. This copy of Office is installed on my laptop and my desktop. Microsoft Activation Center allowed me to install it on the laptop and my desktop by providing me two activation codes

Not sure how to proceed to update on the laptop.

Hello,

Download the admin. patch instead of the client file patch from the link:
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...-470B-8DD3-1285B85DB12B/OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-
fullfile-enu.exe which will not prompt you for the Office XP CD.

I got the file and attempted to install. Error report
followed: problem with Office Hotfix Installer.

Any thoughts?

Hope the problem mostly related to the downloaded file; try to download and install with administrator privileges.
