Problem connecting between Project Server and WSS

A customer using Project Server 2003 has suddnely begun getting the following
error when they try to connect to a documetn library, risks or issues using
the top menu links in PWA:

"The documents, risks and issues features in Project Web Access use Windows
SharePoint Services.
There is a problem establishing a connection with the Web server running
Windows SharePoint Services. Contact your system administrator."

In addition, I have noticed that if I create a new project and publish it, a
workspace is not created automatically for it.

Also, in the Site Provisioning area, the 'Site Template' box is empty.

Last week this was all working but now it isn't. The only thing I am aware
of that has changed is that a Windows update was installed on 25th Oct and
this hasn't been working since.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am also getting a blank site template field, but the WSS Wizard shows the
project template is installed and sites are created normally by Project
Server with the project workspace template.
