problem connecting to exchange after mailbox move

Hi all

I'm posting in both groups as i dont really know where the problem lies ie.
Exchange or outlook

I have setup a new exchange and move mailboxes to the new server. Once a
user is moved that are connecting via a broadband connection to the server
with a POP 3 account they cannot connected anymore. The used to connect to a
public IP (x.x.x.181) which were natting my the internal IP of my exchange.
Once they are moved to the new server they must connect to (x.x.x.185) which
is also natted to the internal IP of the exchange but when he change the ip
in their outlook client to connect to the new ip and go Test account
settings it tick off all the options succesfully but get stuck on "Logging
on incoming mail server" - it then ask for a username and password.Once you
put it in it continually asks for it while you can successfully conect to
the users OWA account with the exact same username and password

All that basically changed is the mailbox has been moved to a new exchange
server and the IP has been changed in the users outlook client. Why this
error now?

Please help me.
We have exch 2003 SP 2 and Outlook 2003

So can you connect to the account via POP3 using the the credentials from
the internal LAN?

Just setup a acount on my pc. If i use the internal IP of the exchange and
test settings then everything goes through 100%. If i change the internal ip
to the public IP it failed on logging on to the POP 3 server. The meesage
:The server was found but there was no response from the server. Please
verify that the port and SSL information is correct

Hi,

Are you using POP3 with SSL or without?

Sounds like Exchange is fine - you just haven't got the correct ports open
for the service you are trying to offer.

POP3 Port 110
POP3 over ssl Port 995

Must i open these ports on my ISP firewall?

No, the default is without SSL so it is still off if i'm not mistaken/.

Ensure port 110 is open on the public IP that NATS to your Exchange Server.
If you have anything else in-between (ISA) ensure the rule base is
configured to allow POP3.

I will follow up to confirm port 110 is open.....and no, there is nothing
between them
