Problem establishing connection with Sharepoint Services.

Rob

All, I need your help.

Everytime I log onto Project Server, the Risks and Issues Section shows this
error:
"There is a problem establishing a connection with the Web server running
Windows SharePoint Services. Contact your system administrator." I have
reset my password for the wssadmin account and then re-ran the PSCOMPLUS.exe
app. Sharepoint and Project are running on the same box

Has anyone had this problem?
Is there a way to identify where the authenication problem is? Nothing is
showing in event viewer.
Are there any other permissions or groups that need modified?
What is the preferred Windows Sharepoint Administration group?

any and all help is appreciated.

Hi Rob, have you ever been able to connect to WSS? Are you logged in using
windows or project server authentication?

Rob:

There are a number of reasons for this, but they all point back to the
configuration and setup of the account you're using for the COM+ identity.

Is this account a member of the SharePoint Central Administrators Group as
defined through SharePoint Central Administration?
Does this account have the correct database access?

Refer back to your installation guide for the details.

I have the same problem with a fresh install of PS2003. I have an account
with Admin rights on the server; added it to the SP Central Admin Group; ran
PSComPlus; ran proxycfg -d; restarted IIS; and logged back into the Project
Server home page ..... still no luck.

Any ideas?

Carey

Not enough information. In general, I don't respond to "me too" posts
because they usually make false assumptions like saying "I have the same
problem" rather than saying "I have the same symptom." Additionally, me-too
posters assume that they do not have to describe *their* system setup,
another false assumption.

Using the original message in this thread as a guide, the only other
"necessary" input seems to be that I also have Project Server and SharePoint

I am confused. It seems that Let's see ... the original post can be divided
into four parts.
1) he states the problem - I am experiencing the same issues (see my
original post)
2) he states his attempts to fix the problem - I stated mine (see my
original post)
3) he states his environment ("Sharepoint and Project are running on the
same box") - I stated the same thing (see my last post) and that it was a
fresh install (see my original post)
4) he then asks a list of questions - I asked a question ("Any ideas?")

Your "me-too" rant is no longer valid. I fail to see a big difference in
the message content that the original post-er provided and what I have
provided. What the heck else do you want?????????

So you do not want to provide any helpful feedback because I haven't posted
my issue in a new post?

Thanks. You've been invaluable.

I have given as much, if not more, information about my installation than the
original post-er did. I am not sure what else you would need. I am not sure
why you would expect more info out of me than you got from him. I do not see
where I may have failed.

I have not insulted you at all. I am extremely disappointed in your
responses to date. I feel that I have good reason for that. If the
information that I have given to you is not clear and/or complete, then ask
for exactly what you want instead of saying you need "necessary input" or
"start a new post". That is less than helpful. I really expected more from
this forum.

Now, I give up.
