Problem faced with MS word 2000 installed on Windows 98

Office 2000 is installed on Windows 98
after a long time , the word files which are saved doesn't
get opened by double click on it.

The files have to be opened from the Open option from the
word editer only.

Why is it so?

Beside reinstallation of Office 2000 is there any solution
to correct this problem.

Is Symantec/Norton Antivirus installed on your computer? If so, try
disabling the Office Plugin that comes with Norton. See

You probably just need to reregister Word. At the Start | Run prompt, type

winword /r

Note that there is a space before the forward slash. If this does not work,
