PROBLEM FINDING AND SORTING CONTACTS IN ENTOURAGE

J

Jackson

I have the latest update for Entourage (2004 11.3.3) running OS X
10.4.8. When I use the Find
command in Entourage Contacs it misses contacts that i can see in my
contacts when i do a
manual search.

I also find it very strange that I can find some contacts when i put my
pointer in the contacts and start typing the contact - but I can't find
others. Some of the contacts seem to migrate to the top of the field
regardless of spelling - even when i try sort them alphabetically (it
seems to be the latest accessed contacts - but not always).

What is going wrong with this program?

Hi Lance,

I've noticed similar quirks on my machine as well, but they only affect
contacts that are companies, i.e. contacts that do not have a first or last
name, only a company name. These contacts are moved to the top of the
address list for some very obscure reason; also, it does not affect all the
company contacts.

The reason why they cannot be found using the quick search field in the
upper right corner is because they do not have any traditional (first or
last) names that Entourage can filter. To find company details, you need to
click on the dropdown field and select "Company contains" before entering
your text. I no longer use the quick search field because of that annoying
behaviour; I use Spotlight instead, or the Address Book widget, since
Address Book and Entourage share the same contacts through Sync Services.

Hope this helps.

Hi Michel
Is Microsoft aware of this ridiculousness?

Hi Lance,

I don't know. I will report this behaviour and see what I can find out.
