Problem importing data from Excel into Access 2003

After upgrading from Office 2000 to Office 2003 w/sp1 users are not
able to import data from Excel. When you open a existing mdb file or
create a new mdb and go to Tables>Import the 'Files of type',
Microsoft Excel (*.xls) is not listed. Actually the only ones that
appear are: Microsoft Access (*.mdb...), Windows SharePoint Services
(), XML (*.xml,*.xsd) and ODBC Databases ().

I verified this problem exists on serval systems, all upgraded from
Off2K to Office 2003. All systems we have upgraded from Office XP to
Office 2003 do not have this problem. Uninstalling/reboot/reinstall
did not help. Have also tried upgrading to the latest MDAC 2.8.

Has anyone seen this before? Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Look for the following files on your hard drive (they should be in the
System folder), and use regsvr32.exe to reregister them:

Msexcl40.dll (Microsoft Excel)
Msexch40.dll (Microsoft Exchange)
Msltus40.dll (Lotus 1-2-3)
Mspbde40.dll (Imprise Paradox)
Mstext40.dll (Text)
Msxbde40.dll (Dbase)

That did the trick. I'm able to import from Excel again.
