Problem importing OE6 address book to Outlook 2003

I'm a new, involuntary user of Outlook 2003. For years I've use OE
(currently version 6) for my email and news reader. But as I'm
migrating to Windows 7, I've decided to switch my mail and address
book over to Outlook.

I plan first to import to Outlook on the same WindowsXP machine as my
OE. Then I plan to transfer the new Outlook files to Outlook on my
new Windows 7 computer

On the old macine, I successfully imported my mail and folders to
Outlook. But I seem unable to import the OE address book. Here’s
what I've done, following the MSFT recipe verbatim, as below:

****************************
To Import Outlook Express contacts into the Outlook Contacts folder
1. In Outlook, on the File menu, click Import and Export.
2. Under Choose an action to perform, click Import Internet Mail and
Addresses.
3. Under Select the Internet Mail application to import from, click OE
4.x, 5.x, 6.x.
4. Clear the check boxes for Import Mail and Import Rules. Only the
Import Address Book check box should be selected.
5. Click Next.
6. Select one of the following:

Replace duplicates with items imported Existing data will be
overwritten with the information in the file that is being imported.

Allow duplicates to be created Existing data will not be overwritten,
and duplicates will be added to the current Outlook folder.

Do not import duplicate items Existing data will be kept, and the
duplicate information in the file will not be copied to the current
Outlook folder. -- This is the one I selected

7. Click Finish.
8. After the export is complete, click Save in Inbox if you want a
message in your Inbox that logs what was exported, or click OK.
********************************
After completion I get the following message

0 of 0 addresses imported.
0 of 0 distribution lists imported.
And nothing in the Contacts folder

Please advise

How many OE identities do you have?

If you are more comfortable in OE, you should try the live mail client - its
very similar and includes a calendar. It's perfect for many users.

Oops - I have three, two of which are virtual;ly never used and could
easily be deleted, if that's the problem.

I've read a little about the live mail client. But I've never seen
clarified just where Live stores my messages.

On my own computer as with OE or somewhere in space or on a Microsoft
server?

Mail is stored on the drive as individual eml messages. In Win7, its at
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\

My guess is you were trying to import the wrong wab. Unfortunately, OE is
not my specialty, so I don't know the proper way to remove identities. See
http://www.insideoe.com/ or visit the Outlook Express community on this
server at
