Problem importing old notes

L

Luis Rademacher

I installed beta 2 without removing or upgrading an existing installation of
2003 sp2. My old notes were imported correctly exept for the following
problem:

The lines of handwritten text are not aligned with the grid's lines, as they
were in the original version. The problem seems to happen in all my pages,
except for the pages (3) that were in my "Side Notes" section (now Unfiled
Notes).

I use "Small Grid" as the line style of rule lines in all my pages, except
for one of those in "Side notes", which uses "college ruled".

It is worth noticing that the pages that appear correctly (side notes) are
pages that don't have titles, while the wrong pages have titles.

This is a known issue that we have seen before, still pending to see how
often this bothers users. Are you concerned because the ink alginment
helped your notes to be more readable or because they were an importnat part
of the notes?

Part of the problem is that we have a title area on a differnet part of the
page which causes the alignment to be off in certain cases.

Please feel free to log a bug about this:

and upload the OneNote 2003 file (in My Docs\My Notebook) and let us know
what the problem is. Thank you!

It definitely makes the notes less readable. I don't think that the lines
were somehow an important part of the notes, anyway.

It doesn't look like a good thing if one wants to modify previous notes by
adding or replacing something. I haven't felt the need to modify old notes,
but I am not sure about how I may use my old notes in the future. I just have
a bad feeling about this in the long term.

Luis.
