You could try to re-register Excel.

Close Excel first and
On the Windows Taskbar

1) Start>Run "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)>OK.
2) Start>Run "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.
See the space between exe and /regserver

You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe.
In that case Start>Run "C:\yourpath\excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.

If this doesn't do the trick, try a "repair" of Office(or Excel if standalone)
or a re-install.

If you have no CD, you are most likely out of luck with the repair or
re-install.

Thanks for the feedback. Always nice to know what does or doesn't do the
trick.

BTW.....I assume solution was the re-register?
