Problem in Saving Excel in Network Share

Hi All,

A wierd problem. All our users will have a mapped drive T: whic
points to share-folder \\xaa\acc , basically a filer-server. Suddenly
We have had several reports of users having the following error messag
appearing when they try to save an Excel file to the T: drive:.
"File Not saved"

Subsequently,a file is saved in the directory with no extension....lik
a garbage file.
This does not occur with every Excel file but has been reported b
several individuals.
This share problem happens only with Excel.

We are completly clueless here.
So, Any thoughts on this guys ?

Thanks
Anan

When excel saves the file, it saves it as a temporary file with a funny name (8
characters--no extension).

If the save is successful, xl will delete the original and if that's successful,
xl will rename the funny named file to the original's name.

Common things that get blamed for interruptions to this process are antivirus
software poking its head in or network errors--either permissions or physical
problems.

Maybe you could disable the AV software first. Then see if that helps. If it
doesn't, I'd check with IT for permissions (and finally hardware).

good luck,
