Problem inserting symbols

Hi All,

When I try using Insert->Symbol (in both Word2002 and
Excel2002), I could not select the symbol I wanted using
mouse click. I don't use this feature very often but I am
sure it worked before. I can move from symbol to symbol
using the arrow keys though.

Can anybody given some ideas of getting the mouse click to
work again? I'm using Office XP with SP2. The build number
is 10.4524.4219. I'm runing Windows 2000.
