Problem installing Front Page 98

E

Ed

My operating system is Windows XP Home Edition.
I had Front Page 98 installed and running. I had to uninstall it in order to
use a personal web server. Now when I try to re-install Front Page 98 I get
the error message '16 Bit Windows Subsystem' C:\Windows\system32\autoexec.nt.
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows.
Where did I go wrong, is there anything I can do.
Thanks

No MS web server (FP PWS, MS PWS or FP Extensions) is supported under Windows XP Home.

You can not install PWS on Windows XP
And Windows XP Home Edition does not support any servers
You need to upgrade to Windows XP Pro and use IIS if you need a local server for testing

Personal Web Server from Frontpage 98 won't work in XP.

XP Professional includes Internet Information Service (IIS) - the common
server software for windows these days.

IIS won't run (or is not included) in XP Home.
