My install of KB928090 for WinXP SP2 failed for this error:
Setup could not backup registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\MAIN\FeatureControl\FEATURE_IMAGING_USE_ART
I tried telling it to ignore the error, but that caused another error. It
said Windows XP had been partially updated and may not work properly.
(Arrrgh!) After several attempts at doing System Restore (some restore
points caused the machine to crash), I finally got a System Restore to work.
I installed the other new updates individually after downloading them
separately.
I went into the Registry to see if I could fix the permissions on the
specified key, but right-clicking on the key says "Error while opening key".
I went one level up in the Registry, to the Feature Control folder, to see if
I could fix the permissions there, but the Advanced button already shows that
I am an Owner.
What do I do now?
