Problem installing Office XP SP1

Unsuccessfully trying to install Office XP SP1

The check for updates suggests to install this update - but after trying to run the install it never starts and always gives me:
message "Installation Unsuccessful".
I never have problems installing Windows Updates.

All, my software was loaded by my computer vendor where i brought my computer.
I have all the originals CDs but it never starts the install to get to ask me to insert them?
any experts out there?

Glen,
I am running Office XP standard and have attempted to
install both SP1 & 2 to my machine. The system is not
recognising the installed version of XP for some reason. I
am waiting on Microsoft to advise me of a resolution. I'll
post it once they reply.
