problem of Text area in word figure area

Hi,
I have a problem with my figures within word2003...
It happens often when I copy/paste a figure (not always), if I want to
modify a text box, the written text is simultaneously written in another text
box within the figure zone in a totally unpredictable way...
Sometimes I managed to correct the problem by deleting a text box, but the
problem appears again as soon I add a text area to the picture (with chaotic
behavior...)...
Please can someone help? Is there any clue to avoid such problems?

Is it because you have left an object selected when you choose Paste. If you
have, the paste will go into that object and not into the document

Actually, this is not the problem as I have correctly chosen the document
where I want to paste the figure (in a new document for example where not any
object can be selected)... Yet thanks for the response...
