Dear sir,

When I tried to install Microsoft Equation 3.0 to Microsoft Word 2000 of Microsoft Office 2000 Premium Edition (with SP3), the following error message has been prompted:

"The server application, source file, or item cannot be found.
Make sure the application is properly installed, and that it has not been deleted, moved or renamed."

The same error message keep alerting even I have tried to install Microsoft Equation 3.0 from Office 2000 setup CD.

Please help.

Usually this happens when you try to insert an object or double-click an
existing object in order to edit it.

We hear of this error fairly frequently in PowerPoint, and I believe the
issues and fixes are the same for Word. The link below has some suggestions
to fix it. There's nothing in the link about Equation Editor specifically,
but it should still get you going. I suspect your antivirus program is
probably the issue.

Can't edit Org Chart, Graph, Excel (error msg: "server application, source
file, or item can't be found")
