Problem opening documents in 2003

Hi,

I have a user that is using word 2003 and when trying to open several
documents he receives error messages that say the file is damaged.
Repairing the file does nothing but if you open it, it DOES open but after a
long while. I have accessed the files on the host computer and i have the
same problems(also using 2003). However, other users are using 2000 and
they do not have any problems when accessing the same copy of the file(s).
The files are ordinary .doc files.

Any suggestions?

When you say 'repair' do you mean you used the Open and Repair option on the
document? If not, try that first. If that doesn't work, save the document in
RTF, close it, open it and save it back to .doc format again.

Thanks, forgot to mention that i had already tried that and the rtf worked
fine but when opening again as .doc it hung again before finally opening but
this time without displaying the error message.

.....any other ideas?

Possibly a printer driver problem. Are you using the same default printer?
If there is another printer available, try switching printers.

Thanks, everyone is printing to the same printer and nobody else has a
problem. Like I said, they are all using word 2000 and not 2003 as this
user is.

Try a different printer or check to see that the latest driver is installed
on the W2003 machine.

Hello
You need to have xml on your computer for you to be able to access the
document to be able to open it and either import into MSWord. Are you using
word 2003?
