Problem opening documents

O.K. this is an odd one to me...I have Office 2007 pro on both of my Vista
computers (32 bit) at home, no problems at all.
At work we just installed Office 07 prem. pro. on the XP pro (32bit I think)
desktops here is my issue. If I open a document from my outlook e mail or
via a desk top link the program opens but it just stalls when displaying the
document, unless I minimize it, it then immediately pops back up with the
open document. I hope that makes sense. Some of the documents were created
with office some with 2007 they are usually Word or excel documents...any
ideas how to stop the minimize game to open a document? By the way, if I
open excel for instance then select open the item stored on the desktop, it
opens right up it only does this little odd thing when you click on the icon
to open a stored document.
