We have an Access application that contains forms,
tables, macros and queries, this application was created
in japan on access 97. The application runs successfully
on windows 2000 (sp3), office 2000 (sp2) with the
japanese IME with the locale set to japan. We attempt to
run the application in Australia on a windows 2000 (sp4),
office 2000 (sp2) with the japanese IME and the locale
set to japan and the application fails to open. The
message recieved is 'The expression On Open you entered
as the event property setting produced the following
error: A problem occured while testdb was communicating
with the OLE server or ActiveX control'. This error seems
to point to something wrong in the code behind the form.
The actual database can be opened by holding down the
shift key when selecting the mdb, however the double byte
japanese characters are substituted with box type
characters. Japanese characters can be displayed in other
office products like excel and word. Any assistance on
this pesky issue would be greatly appreciated.
