Problem opening Word2000

When I try to open Word2000, the grey screen comes up and just hangs with the
Word2000 block in the middle. After I hit ctrl, alt, delete and then hit any
key to continue it brings up error box that states system low on resources
and I have to reboot. I've ran disk cleanup, scanned disk for errors and
defraged the C drive.
I'm using less than 5 GB's and have 23 GB's of free space. I've tried
repairing and removing and restalling Word2000 several times. Everything else
works, even internet access. I'm running Windows 98. Any help would be
appreciated.
