_______________
Scenario:
I work for a technical consulting company and provide a content management
system to a client, we are trying to get .PPS files to open properly on the
clients intranet. Below is the steps to upload the file to the content
management machine
Saved file as .pps.
Loaded into content management system for client, stored the .PPS file as
a BLOB in a SQL Server database
Client selects link on web page, opens presentation in edit mode
displaying .ppt extension in titlebar
--However--
Works link opens in slideshow mode on all of my colleagues machines, just
not the client who has a standard 'locked' operating system build used by
his company.
_______________
Checked:
.PPS file extension is properly set on the locked build
.PPS files open in presentation mode on the locked build when stored
locally
Checked web server and .PPS MIME type exists
Raw data transmitted to client through HTTP is sending .PPS file (used
Microsofts fiddlertool)
_______________
What we know:
Server is providing file as a .pps
Works on some PCs going to link from my corporate network, doesn't work
on users on the client network. The web-server is a client machine, hosted
as part of their network.
Seems to be arriving at the clients PC as a .PPT file
Has anyone heard/seen this before? I think at this point there might be an
Anti-Virus program intercepting the file and changing the .pps to .ppt so it
does not display the slideshow automatically.
Any ideas helpful.
