Problem printing a spreadsheet in Excel for the MAC

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Preview increases the font size when I attempt to print a spreadsheet . Therefore the sheet does not print what I have planned although I have "set the print area".
I have set the scaling in "options" to 100% and keep decreasing the size on the monitor.
How do I set the program to print the same font size as I have in the sheet? This was not a problem in WINDOWS Excel.
Thanks for your replies.

the change when you use print preview indicates that the problem is with
how Excel and your print driver are interacting. Make sure that Office,
OS X and your print driver are fully updated.

Second, make sure you're specifying a font that exists on your Mac. If
it doesn't, XL will try to find the closest match, which may or may not
be a good one (it usually is reasonably good).

Thank you for your reply. New iMac and new HPC4780 purchased Nov. 2009 so I think I should have the latest drivers.
I use mostly Time New Roman 12 and Arial or Verdana - pretty standard fonts. (I've been decreasing font sizes before printing.)

I would like to set a font and font size preference for "Excel" and "Word" to be my default choices and I would like to set "page setup" to default to "portrait" instead of "landscape" as it now does.

Again - my thanks for any replies.

Don't bet on it :)

The driver software packed with that printer was probably burned before the
printer came off the assembly line. Add to that the time the unit spent in
the pipeline, not even considering whether the vendor properly rotates their
inventory... And the latest revisions from the printer mfr's don't always
make it to Apple in time to be included with OS updates.

The driver for that printer may very well have been revised half a dozen
times since the version you have. It wouldn't hurt to take a few minutes to
check the HP site. As John said, that's exactly what's pointed to by the
symptoms you're reporting.
