Problem printing mail merged booklet publisher 2002

I have created a four page booklet and wanted to merge it. When I went to
print I discovered that Publisher does not give an option to print selected
pages in the "merge print" section. I thought I solved this problem by
simply starting a new document and copied the first two pages to the new
document. When I attempted to print the page positioning would be altered.
It would print page 1 on the left side of the page and page 2 on the right.
The next print would have page 1 on the right and page two on the left. This
would continue for the entire merge. I have gone through all of the the
print options and nothing seems to help. The page size is 8.5 by 14
The funny thing about this is that when I print the original four page
document by selection "print currrent page" it prints fine.

Mary,

Thanks for your reply, but I've printed the document just fine when I'm not
attempting to do a mail merge as I said in my original posting. I simply
print the first set of pages 1 & 4 flip the paper and print 2 & 3.
My problem starts when I do the mail merge. I even did what is outlined in
"three ways to print". This did not work. I put page 1 & 4 on a new
document and attempted to print. It fiirst printed page 1 on the right side
of the page and page 4 on the left side and then switched the positions. The
switching would go back and forth every other print.

If you are still selecting "booklet" as the page setup, then Publisher is printing as
a booklet.
Setup up pages 1 and 4 as a regular page, page 1 on the right, page 4 on the left.
Create your merge. Turn it over, page 2 on the left, page 3 on the right.

Mary,

Again, Thanks for the reply - your solution works, but it doesn't say much
for the way Publisher works. I guess the big question is why can I print this
file as a "booklet" of four pages on two sheets of 8.5 x 14 paper with out
the pages altering from left to right on the first page when I simply use the
print function. As opposed to when I take the exact same file; do a mail
merge it and then attempt to print. This is when I attempt to print only the
first sheet which consists of page 1 & 4 and the position of the page lay out
is altered from left to right every other sheet. Page 1 takes the position of
page 4 and 4 takes the position of 1.
Even when I eliminated pages 2 & 3 this occured with the mail merge.
It totally has something to do with the mail merge or the same problem with
occur when I printed the document in the regular print mode and select page
"print current page". Eveything is the same except the merge. Even the fact
that I have the file set as "Booklet" If booklet was the problem the
switchiing of page position would occur when I'm using the standard print
page.
Why isn't there simply a print page selection in the mail merge print page?
