Problem reinstalling Office 97 Upgade

R

Reinstalling

I dumped my old computer after wiping the hard drive. I
wanted to install my Office 97 (which is an upgrade
version) on my new computer. I started the Office 97
install and, since I have an upgrade version, it asked for
my qualifying version. My qualifying version was Office
95 which I have long since discarded. Is there any way
that I can reinstall this without my old Office 95 CD's?
I have registered everything in the past but I don't want
to pay MS $35 for help. Thanks.

No, when you buy an upgrade package, the qualifying product becomes part of
the license to use the upgrade. If you have discarded the QP, you are not
entitled to use the upgrade.

There is no way unless you buy another copy of OFF95. Incidentally, MS will
not help even if you pay for support, since you need to keep a copy of the
earlier version in your possession as a condition of the office upgrade
license for OFF97.

Thanks everyone for the help. I was afraid of that.
Error on my part during spring cleaning. Guess I'll have
to look at a newer version of Office.
