problem retrieving priinter information for the object.

Have migrated from old pc (win 2k, O2K) to new PC with WinXP and OfficeXP
Pro. Brought over old Access databases to the new machine. The reports will
no longer print and display error: "Problem retrieving printer information
for the object. The object may have been sent to a printer that is
unavailable." The only option is to press the OK button.

Data entry, queries, export still work as long as no report is used.

Unable to open the report in DESIGN mode either. Any suggestions /
recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim,

Check your printer driver. Example:

- Create a new printer and choose for manufacturer "Generic Text Only"
- Make it the default printer
- Now test your Reports (note: they'll open in design view now)

Problem: Microsoft Access is having a problem communicating with whatever
printer driver you were using initially.

Resolution: either one of the following

- Delete the printer and re-add it (corrupted printer driver)
- Download an updated printer driver from the Printer's Manufacturer site
- Or use a printer driver thats compatiable and that Microsoft Access does
not have a problem communicating with..... it's less common that Microsoft
Access has compatiably issues with certain printers but it does happen

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.
