Hi,

I¹m having difficulty saving Excel files deep in my file system. If I save
files in a relatively shallow location, such as on the Desktop, they save
fine. The problem occurs when I execute a ³Save As...² command from the File
menu. When I open pre-existing files that are deep in the file system, they
save fine.

The problem manifests itself like this:

I do ³Save As...² and locate the destination (deep in file system).

Excel offers me a dialogue that says: ³Document not saved², with an ³OK²
button. I click OK.

I have to save the file at a relatively shallow location (i.e. The Desktop)
then move it to the ³deep² location. I can then open the file in Excel and
work on it and save it as usual. However, sometimes when I do this (not
right now, of course, as I¹m documenting it) Excel gives me an error message
that the file can¹t be found and that backup saving (or something like that)
is disabled for this session. But I can still work on the file and save it
as usual.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Andrew

How deep is deep? I don't think Windows handles paths longer than about 400 characters.
