problem saving files

Hi
I have a spreadsheet that I want to put on another computer. this other pc
uses an older version so I save as
Microsoft excel 5.0/95 workbook. However when I try to open it it says that
it cannot open as it may be a read only file. How do I save it so it can be
opened on the other pc please.
Thanks
Jim

You might want to check first if the original spreadsheet
is saved as read only. To do that, on the original
spreadsheet, click on "Save As". Then there's a drop down
menu on the save as window named "Tools". Click on that
and select "General Options". Chances are is the "Read
Only Recommended" checkbox is checked. Deselect this and
see what happens. Also, to be on the safe side, just save
the file not just as 5.0/95 but as 97-2000 & 5.0/95, if
available.

Thanks for prompt answer,
I checked out the tools menu and the read only recommended box was unchecked
so I am still at a loss. I will try the other save options but I am quite
sure that the other pc uses version 5.0/95
thanks
Jim
