Problem saving from Word 03 to htm/html with tables contained with

I have a Word 2003 document that has basic tables contained within. When I
save it to htm/html and post the new document to our Intranet the tables
don't display on the full page but rather as condensed in size. In testing
this same scenario with Word 97 I find that when I save the same document to
htm/html and post the new document on our Intranet I get the tables displayed
on the full screen which looks much better. Why does Word 03 change the
format when saved to htm/html?

You can try the different Save As options to see if one yields better
results. In addition to Web Page, there's Web Page Filtered, which removes
some of the clutter that the default format inserts. All in all, however,
many people find that Word's html is far from optimal or efficient.

Yes, we explicitly use TNR on the link and it still displays as Arial when
uploaded to our Intranet. The only way that we can get it to work is by
converting to either XML or MHT which creates a larger file, which we
obviously don't want. Any other suggestions? Is this something that might
be addressed in Office SP2? I looked through the list quickly and can't seem
to find reference to this problem. Is it something that Microsoft may need
to create a patch for? Thanks.
