Problem selecting text in table

Sheryl

When I click anywhere in a field (row, column cell) in an Access table, all
the text to the right of the cursor is highlit, always. I've tried clicking
elsewhere in the same field, double click, right click. If I move the cursor
using the arrow keys, it highlights one more for left-arrow and one less for
right arrow. This means I can't change just one character in the middle of a
text string, I have to delete the entire right portion of the string. It
must be some wierd setup option, but I don't see anything in Tools, Options.
Toggling the Insert key doesn't help. The problem does not occur in Excel.

Hi, Sheryl.

This is an annoying problem, and the only way I've found to fix it is to
clear memory.

Save all of your work, then exit from Access, then reopen your database
application. The text selection feature will work correctly again in text
fields, combo boxes, and cells in datasheets.

I advise you to make data entries and edits in a form, instead of the table,
so that the form can help validate the data and provide a rich set of custom
features that are just not available in a table of raw data.

HTH.

Hi Sheryl,

Have you tried rebooting lately? I sometimes see weird behavior similar to what you describe.

Tom
