Problem sending commands to the program in Word 2007

When I try to access Word files in an external drive I cannot get them. A
note indicates that tere is a problem sending commands to prgoram.

Don't even try! Opening files from an external or removable drive or saving
them to such a drive is one of the top three causes of file corruption.
Instead, copy the file to your hard drive and work on it from there.
