Problem sending email from a non-default account

I'd greatly appreciate any help or comments on the following problem I've
been experiencing:
I have several email accounts, each with their own proper entry, and when I
want to send an email from one of the accounts other than the default
account, I use the account pull-down bar to select which one to use. Then a
message appears above the email before it is sent saying it will be sent from
that address. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT IS STILL SENT FROM THE DEFAULT ACCOUNT!
When I receive an email that is addressed to one of my accounts that is NOT
the default account, and when I then reply to that, Outlook correctly sends
the email from that other account. But when I try to initiate email from that
same account. It STILL gets sent from the default account.
I installed Office SP3 but the problem remains.
Anyone have an suggestions on correctly this?
