Problem sending emails from Outlook

I suddenly started getting the message "550 Please configure your mail client
to use authentication". I have no idea what this means and no idea as to what
my "mail client" is.

I would appreciate the assistance of anyone who can help me.

You need to contact your sevice provider for the new security settings.
Usually ISP's will have a web site for server and SPA (secure password)
settings. Or just contact them by phone. Your mail client is your email
program--Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.

How can YOU not know what e-mail client you are using? YOU have to run
it to get or send your mails. Since you posted in an Outlook group,
presumably your mail client is Outlook.

Outlook is 2002

Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next. Select your account. Click Change, then More
Settings, then Outgoing Server and specify the correct authentication.
