Problem setting defaultvalue for combo box

I'm trying to set the default value for a combo box. Its
on a previous screen in a listbox. I'm setting it in the
load event of the form but I'm getting #Name in the combo
box even though I know I assigned the correct data. Is the
load event the correct place to do this?
