Problem sycing notebook with shared internet folder

I have setup a share on a server I can accwss throught the internet.
http://www.mysite.com/onenote/test

I can save my notebook to this location but it won't sync. One note des not
give any errors. I checked the event log on the server where the site is
located and it seems it is trying to connect using the Administator account.
I'm not sure why it is using this account or what password it is supplying.

Here is what the event view shows.

What sort of authentication do you have set up for the site? Does the
site have WebDAV/SharePoint enabled on it?

I have annonymous access set. I also tried it with basic and intergrated and
neither worked.
I don't have Sharepint on the site. I thought I could treat it as shared
folder as if it was on another computer on my network. Is this not the case?

OneNote requires either WebDAV or SharePoint to be set up on the server.
You'll need to install at least one of the two before using the server
to host shared notebooks.
