Problem trying to create a Dropdown using a Web Service

Hello,

I am using Infopath to get a XML Dataset from a Web Service. When I bind a
Text Control I am getting data in the dropdown. However, there are two
properties that I can not set correctly. In the properties of the dropdown
list, I setup to lookup based on Web Service. Then I select the Data
Connection. I have 2 fields in the XML, a ID Value and a Text Value. When I
try to select the ID column for the "Value" property, I get a message stating
"You selected the field where the control saves data. Instead, select the
field where the control looks up data.". I can select the Text field for
both Value and Text. What I want is to select the ID field in the Value and
the Text Field in the Display Name. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

When you drop a field to make it a drop down, it should originate from your
main data source. On the other hand, the content of your drop down should be
linked to a secondary data source (Web Service in your case). Looks like you
may be working with one single data source and link the field to itself.
