Problem uninstalling Office '97 Professional Edition

I have office 97 on my computer, given to me by a friend. I've tried removing
it, but the computer says i need a disc to do so. How can i uninstall this
program without the disc?

Can you ask the friend if you may borrow the CD long enough to remove the
software?

You'll have to do it the hard way and this article will tell you where to
look for the files. It's gonna be ugly. And I'd strongly recommend you have
your other CDs and product keys handy because one wrong move and you'll end
up having to completely reformat the machine, which might not be a bad idea
anyway.

If you can't get a hold of the "borrowed" CD, and since it's obviously an
illegal install anyway, I'd suggest he get an ISO of Office 97 Pro from the
torrents, burn an an image, do the uninstall and toss the ISO. Easier than
an manual uninstall. I'm not trying to promote d/l unlicenced software, but
his install is already illegal.

Augustus, I find you very rude, automatically assuming that this is an
"illegal install". I myself am having the same issue of not being able
to uninstall Office 97. I can assure you that I had installed it
legally (in 1997). My PC is brand new and up to date; I've just had my
info from former hard drives transferred to my new hard drives.

I think maybe before you jump to conclusions, you should consider how
long it has been since the program has been released. I'm sure there
are many people that still have Office 97 on their PC (legally) and do
not have the disc anymore!
