Hi,

I've got a crazy problem an a laptop.

I think that the office2000 installation is totally crashed.

When i try to delete it from the add/remove program panel it displays a
small loading msgbox then the msgbox closes and nothing happens next.

I have tried to launch the remove program from the office2000 cd but there
is also the same problem.

I have tried to reinstall or repair and Here it works but when I log off
from administrator and then log in with a normal user the normal user don't
have office shorcuts on it's startup menu or desktop

And after this reinstallation, again, I can't remove office 2000 from the
computer just like before

When log in as normal user I have recreated the shortcuts by opening .doc,
..xls, .msg files and each time I have been asked for the office 2000
installation cd

I have also tried to install office XP over office2000 but when i try to
load outlookXP I have got error message saying that the install is not
complete or something like that
And in the add/remove program control panel I have both office2000 and
officeXP installed.

I also remember that one time outlook 2000 was looking for the office2000
when starting, then install some things, then reasked for office2000 cd
again and again until I killed the outlook process

I don't know what's really going on But If someone had already seen
something like that or if someone knows a way to completely uninstall
office2000 and XP manually it would be great...

(the system is windows 2000)

Thanx for your help :)

Phone Microsoft. Or else wait a few hours. See my post a
few lines down. They are busy mailing me with a solution.
Apparently there is a tool that removes it and all it's
entries (you don't even need the CD) Then you can
reinstall and it should come out as fresh. For the moment
check your PC for other updates and virusses. Replay to me
via mail if you need the info.

I have the same situation in that it is a laptop, the
operating system was upgraded from W98 to W2K, and I am
getting a need the CD message when I try to launch Office
programs, yet it won't use the CD when it is put in. I
cannot uninstall the Office suite, nor can I install or
repair it.

Did you ever get the promised answer, where the post
said, "wait a few hours I am getting a response from
Microsoft?"

I get an answer with a tool to remove office2000 available also in the
knowledge base of microsoft but it didn't work. I have successfully removed
office2000 when logged in as domain administrator but when I loged in back
with the simple user the office2000 has came back in the Add/Remove program
listing and always asking for the office CD.

I have installed officeXP then I have relaunched an office2000
uninstallation as a normal user and now officeXP don't ask for the
office2000 cd any more but is still in the add/remove program listing :(
