Problem Upgrading from 2002 to 2003

I have several times tried to load the FrontPage 2003 upgrade CD to upgrade
from FrontPage 2002. It gets as far as

Installation Progress
Current Action
Writing system registry values

and locks up there. I have let it go for over 15 minutes and it goes no
further. Then I have to do a restore to put everything back the way it was
before I tried to upgrade.

I have posted this problem before but never received any suggestions on what
may be causing the problem.

All my software is bought legally and registered. I recently purchased the
FP 2003 upgrade from Amazon.com and am wondering if the CD may be the
problem? I have not had problems loading software or upgrades prior to this
incident.

I run Windows XP Professional SP2, Office Professional and my software is
all updated.

Thank you
Judith

Start>run>d:(drive where cd is) then enter
can you see all the folders? or right click on the cd and copy and try
pasting it locally, if you can do that then there is no problem with the cd.
Otherwise, my guess is that there is something wrong with the cd. Either its
missing some files or it has been scratch. Let me know how it goes?

Did you try copying the cd files to your hard drive and then running setup from there as I
suggested earlier??

I did as you suggested and everything installed just fine.

Thank you for your help:)

I'm sure I read a reply to this problem - the solution was to copy the
installation files to the hard drive and try the install from there instead
of from the CD. If it wasn't this OP's specific question, another poster
asked the same thing.
