Problem using Central Resource Pool - MS Project 98

Vijay Dwarkanath

We are using a Central Resource Pool ( MS Project 98 )
with about 250 resources. There are about 8 plans using
the resource pool. This has been working fine for the last
month or so. Since today morning if any plan attempts to
assign a resource to any task, Project crashes with the
following error: Winproj.exe : Application error. The
instruction at "0X30011ee5" referenced memory
at "0X00000d70". The memory could not be read. Click on ok
to terminate the application".
Specficially the crash occurs, when the Resource
name/Units etc are entered and 'OK' button is hit..

As you can guess, we are badly stuck in proceeding with
planning. Can anyone help please?

Hi Vijay,

Welcome to the Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Not good news :-( Project 98 is an old version that MS has stopped
supporting. Have you installed the Service Release 1? This overcame many
crashing problems. If you haven't, I don't know where you can get it from
any more. You could try an auction house like eBay. You could try
disconnecting all projects from the pool, saving each (and the pool file) to
a mdb file and re-opening in Project and then saving as an mpp file, then
reset the sharing.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on:)
